Follow this optimal path: Early game - Rock Shovel ($800) → Bell Shovel ($14K). Mid game - Shortcake Shovel ($45K) → Prismatic Shovel ($250K). Late game - Glinted Shovel ($345K) → Starfire Shovel ($600K). Each tier offers better stats and special mutation abilities.

Strength controls dig progress speed. Control affects the clickable bar size (easier timing). Haste reduces cooldown between digs. Luck increases rare item chances. Boss DMG determines damage to bosses. Endurance (charm-only) slows the heart meter during digging minigames.

DIG features 6 epic bosses: King Crab (Cinder Shores), Candlelight Phantom (Graveyard), Spider Queen (Spider's Keep), Fuzzball (Silver's Farm), Basilisk (Copper Mesa), and Molten Monstrosity (Mount Charcoal). Each boss drops unique loot, titles, and exclusive gear. Use high Boss DMG shovels for optimal damage.

Charms provide stat bonuses - over 20 types available with 3 slots unlocked at level 25. Find Enchantment Tomes while digging or buy from Dark Wizard NPC. Enchant shovels at Azure Hollow in Cinder Cavern. Use Charm Chisels to reroll charm stats for better optimization. Endurance stat is only available through charms.

Mutations are special modifiers that increase treasure values: Tasty (x2, from Shortcake Shovel), Iridescent (x3.5, from Prismatic Shovel), Golden (x2.5, from Glinted Shovel), and Celestial (x4, from Starfire Shovel). Some mutations like Chromatic provide even higher multipliers. Higher Luck stat increases mutation chances.

Start with Rock Shovel from Fox Town ($800), focus on consistent dig timing within the control bar, collect charms early (unlock 3 slots at level 25), and watch for weather events that provide bonuses. Upgrade gradually: Bell Shovel → Shortcake → Prismatic for mid-game progression. Practice digging rhythm and learn the map locations.

DIG features various weather events including standard ones (foggy, stormy, cloudy) and special events. Meteor Shower events spawn meteor strike sites with 2x luck boosts and rare items like Blood Crown charm, Starfire Shovel, and Celestial Totem. Rainbow events provide Pot of Gold rewards. Plan your digging sessions around these valuable weather events!

Starfire Shovel costs $600K from Meteor and offers Celestial mutation (x4 value, 40% chance). Glinted Shovel costs $345K from Copper Mesa and provides Golden mutation (x2.5 value, 20% chance) plus endurance healing. Focus on mutation-boosting shovels first (Shortcake → Prismatic) to earn money faster, then save for these endgame shovels.
